“Message In A Bottle” is a scheme introduced by the Lions Club that assists the emergency services when visiting a patients’ home to find their personal medical information quickly.
Patients considered vulnerable because of their medical condition or who live alone will be provided free of charge with a small green plastic bottle which they will store in their fridge. The bottle contains a form which the patient needs to complete detailing information such as all personal details, doctor’s contact details, medical information, family / carer contact details and they may also choose to provide details on repeat prescriptions.
The emergency services will be alerted if somebody is using Message In A Bottle by a sticker attached to the inside of the front door of their home and a sticker attached to the outside of their fridge.
